All patients presenting to the hospital with emergency conditions or conditions considered emergency are admitted to the Emergency Medicine Department. Except for serious emergency conditions that require calling the reanimation team due to cardiac and respiratory arrest, patients are assessed by the triage nurse in triage area and vital signs (respiration, body temperature, pulse, blood pressure) are measured. Then, the patient is transferred to a room appropriate for the emergency status and the disease of the patient and an assessment is made by the emergency medicine physician. As a result of workup and assessments completed within the shortest time possible, emergency medicine physician can request further study or consultation from the branch physicians on duty. The aims of all examinations, treatments and consultations are explained to the patient in detail and consent is obtained.
